We
sang this song in church (SB First Unitarian) this morning. In that context, singing with people I care
about, it was very moving. Then I
imagined singing this to people who irritate me. Interesting experience.

So, you pose an interesting question. How do we love those who irritate us? And why should we even do it? Perhaps because irritation is our path to transformation! For me, it is difficult to recognize that anger is my path to transformation at that moment that irritation arises. I am, however, getting better at it. And I ascribe that slight change in my behavior to my meditation practice! Ezra Bayda gives a good description of how to work with irritation, first, becoming aware of it and recognizing it as our path.
