It's Not Either/Or



There are those who want you to believe that if you are concerned about racial imbalance in policing, then you must be against all policing and all police officers.  As someone who supports police officers and opposes the injustice of some law enforcement, this point of view is very offensive.  Kareem Abdul-Jabbar states it well:

Police are not under attack, institutionalized racism is. Trying to remove sexually abusive priests is not an attack on Catholicism, nor is removing ineffective teachers an attack on education. Bad apples, bad training, and bad officials who blindly protect them, are the enemy. And any institution worth saving should want to eliminate them, too.
